Where to hire a 4WD
You can hire a 4WD or SUV from a hire car company or from a car-sharing service like Uber Carshare.
If you choose a hire car agency, you’ll need to book in advance and be able to get to the depot during business hours to pick up and return the 4WD. There’s normally a bit of paperwork to do at the start and end of your hire and you might need to wait in line.
With Uber Carshare, you can book and drive instantly. The booking process and all the instructions you need are done in the app, and it's simple to join. Once you’re a member, search for a 4WD or SUV near you and follow the instructions to get the keys and get on the road.
It’s important to note that with most car hire companies and Uber Carshare, you can’t drive off road as it won't be included in the damage cover.
